Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS)

Before we go further on what is TCAS, I would like to refresh on few accidents involving aircraft in mid-air collision.

Nov 1996 – Mid-air collision between Saudi Airlines Flt 763 and Kazakhstan Airlines Flt 1907 which killed 349 passengers onboard.

Sep 1976 – Mid-air collision between British Airways Flt 476 and Inex-Adria Aviopromet Flt  550 which killed 176 people onboard.

Dec 1992 – Air crash between Libyan Arab Airlines Flt 1103 and Libyan Air Force Mig-23 Flogger on the way to Tripoli International Airport which brings fatality of 159 people including air crew.

Based on the tragedies occurred together with some other mid-air collision, a new kind of technology invented to avoid such this things from happening in the future. It’s called Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) to be used in every commercial aircraft nowdays. It is a mandatory requirement as said International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) who is the global aviation authority. Now let’s dig what is TCAS and why it is too important to implement this technology on aircraft?

History of Photography & Camera

Another electronic device that could be considered as important in our life is ‘camera’. Now, I do believe that every house in this world will have at least one no matter what kind of brand it is. It becomes a priority in our live today to memorize something such as wedding event, birthday celebration, graduation ceremony and many more. Well, by taking a photo to shoot any moment in this event could explain every single thing happens on that occasion. Let us journey back to the time where camera or photography was invented.

For y’all info, the word ‘photography’ is taken from Greek which photo means ‘light’ while graphien means ‘to draw’. It does make sense since the images that we took are for our own memory.  The word photography used in 1839 by a scientist named F. W. Herschel. Let us dig who is the real person invented the camera and what kind of camera he created.

Introducing The Garmin nüvi® 3790T

Previously, we looked at Ground Positioning System (GPS) or other technologies invented for navigation. We also had looked on how GPS was related with geo-stationary satellite in order to give the data to navigate. Now I would like to introduce to all one of the latest GPS product which just launch by Garmin Ltd. Introducing the Garmin nüvi® 3790T.

It is becomes the hottest GPS product in market right now featuring with intelligence system on it with the touch screen technology. Now let’s see what feature has been design into this device that make it so hot in electronic consumers.

Revolution of Telecommunication & Telephone

Communication has become an important element to human beings since their existence on earth. It is used to deliver and receive data among each other (interaction). Since communication becomes a need in human life, therefore a revolution of communication keeps expanding.

At the earliest stage, the way of communication is by using smoke and drum sound. Back in the time, when people saw the smoke or hear the drum, they will know something is happening. When they received the signal, people will rush to community centre to find out what exactly happened. This kind of communication has few weaknesses and people start inventing something more reliable than this.

Global Positioning System (GPS)

Previously, we already talked about Geo-Stationary Satellite and what its purposes. Now, we will look at one of the technology used by the satellite. It is called 'Global Positioning System'. Let say when you are traveling to somewhere unfamiliar, and you do not know where exactly you are and is it the correctly heading you took? Well, introducing to Global Positioning System (GPS) that will help you to navigate and notify what is your current location. This kind of technology created to ease-up the humankind especially for travelers. The GPS becomes famous nowdays and some of you might be take it as a requirement for life.

Space Technology: Sun-Synchronous Satellite

Sun-Synchronous Satellite is one of the satellites that moving around the earth and always gets its power source from the sun. It also called a geo-centric which includes altitude and inclination measurement. Due to the satellite is always keeps moving on, so in 24 hours the satellite will pass few countries at the same local solar system (to get solar power from the sun). And this is of course the complete one year of the satellite oscillation, is the direct correlation with actual solar time.

For a geo-stationary satellite, we all know that the purposes are for communication, coordination, TV broadcasting and earth observation. In sun-synchronous satellite case the purpose are mostly for the military and remote sensing. This kind of satellite we can use it for spying other countries.

Space Technology: Geo-Stationary Satellite

A Geo-Stationary Satellite (also known as Geo-Synchronous Satellite) is one of the satellite types which positioned straight on top of the equator (earth surface) accurately 22,300 miles out in space. With this particular distance, the satellite must take a full 24 hours to complete a circle together with earth. The tricky practice here is to make sure that the satellite has to move along with earth wherever it goes. In other word, a geo-stationary satellite has to remain in the same mark on earth. The animation picture below might help out to get a better understanding about the movement of geo-stationary satellite.

Few Words From "The Writer"

Hello and welcome to KNOW4TECH website!

The world revolution has becomes the most important topic nowdays. In this website, you might find out what is the latest technologies revealed to us and the engineering science implemented to the new born products.

Well, you can recognize me as "chairoolz" and I am one of the gadget freaks out there. I'm really interested in finding out the latest technology developed using what kind science theory related to it. For me, science is magic and waiting to humankind in how to implement it for the world benefits.

Credits to Google because of providing us such a wonderful medium to create a website and pass the information to others!

For the first post I don't have any intention to talk much about myself and will start writing about new technologies in my next posting.

Thank you for dropping by & wish you "have a nice day!".
